Time limits
There are strict time limits for accident at work claims. A court case must be started within three years of the date of an accident. It is theoretically possible to start a court case outside of this time limit but very difficult indeed.
It is no defence to argue that you were not aware of this time limit. Slightly different time limits apply if the victim of the accident has unfortunately died. In that situation a court case must be started within three years of the date of death.
It is simply not enough to make a claim against the employer and their insurers - rather court proceedings have to be started. Different time limits apply if you are suffering from a work related disease.
