We were thrilled to be able to support the amazing charity Penny Appeal this Sunday at a charity Cricket match. The event featured global cricket stars such as ex Pakistan captain Misbah ul Haq, Saeed Ajmal, Saqlain Mustaq & Imran Tahir.
Penny Appeal was set up in 2009 to provide poverty relief across Asia, the Middle East and Africa by offering water solutions, organising mass feedings, supporting orphan care and providing emergency food and medical aid.
The cricket event was specifically held to raise funds for the Rohingya Emergency Appeal. There was a meal and auction held before the cricket match started and OH Parsons put in the winning bid for a signed cricket shirt…now we just have to find somewhere in the office to hang it!
Monsoon season has started in Bangladesh bringing with it almost 80% of the entire annual rainfall. Right now, nearly a million Rohingya families are having to deal with the deadly threat of heavy rain, landslides, disease and dirty water. They could lose everything, especially their homes. 9 months on from the start of the Rohingya crisis, over 25,000 babies are expected to be born in refugee camps in Bangladesh.
Penny Appeal needs your help to support families to protect themselves against the devastating effects of the Monsoon.
This Monsoon season, Penny Appeal will be distributing Shelter Upgrade kits to Rohingya families to help them save their homes. Each kit will be full of material and equipment for the family to strengthen their homes and shelter themselves from the deadly rains.
